Description
Garnet is a natural mineral mined from rivers/beaches/rocks. Beach garnet is the most ideal for waterjet cutting due to its low chloride content.
Garnet can be used on site as an expendable or is suitable for recycling units such as blast rooms and cabinets. It breaks down quicker than aluminium oxide or chilled iron when recycled however it can be more cost effective then other expendable abrasives.
Garnet can be used for both ferrous and non-ferrous metal substrates and thanks to its excellent cutting properties it is a great option for water jetting applications.
With a low dust ratio, it can be used in applications that are environmentally sensitive, and its pink/red in colour so is less unpleasant to blast with, providing a more efficient clean up.
Example – The 120 and 80 mesh grades are generally used for waterjet cutting applications
30/60 mesh is more efficient on metal wood/ brick heavily soiled.
We suggest that one 25kg bag will do roughly 1msq… but can also be recycled efficiently
The blasting nozzle ideally needs to be 3x the size of the largest particle of grit for the abrasive to flow freely.
